Planning a #houseextension? Tip of the day…

If you’re considering bifold doors for your extension, if you’re budget will allow, opt for aluminium or hardwood over UPVC. The main reason being that the weight of the doors, which are heavy, is born at the top. They effectively hang (so in most cases you do need a steel beam above the doors) and so glide smoothly and are therefore easy to open and close. UPVC bifold doors often sit on runners at the bottom threshold and so can be clunky. Also, a flush threshold is generally more achievable with aluminium or hardwood products, which makes for a sleeker finish.
