Here at Kennet Design, we strive to offer unrivalled customer service through the efficiency and accuracy of our work by bringing together our design knowledge with the use of the latest technology.
We understand that planning a new extension, loft conversion, garage, garden room etc can be confusing. There are lots of hoops to jump through. We can help guide you through the entire pre-build process to help you bring your ideas to life.
Initial Design Consultation
An initial design consultation with Kennet Design is a free of charge service. This is the crucial first step in realising your dream and creating your perfect home. We’ll come and listen to your ideas, as we know you’ll often have a very clear and well thought-out plan in your mind. It’s then our job to turn these initial ideas in to a reality with you and hopefully give you a few ideas you hadn’t considered along the way. Once we’ve fully understood what it is you want to achieve, we will forward a firm and fixed-price quotation to you along with a summary of what we’d discussed.
Then, if you wish to proceed to the next step, we would look to carry out a electronic survey of your existing home…
We are pioneering the use of computer-based technology in order to speed up the surveying process and to improve the accuracy of our drawings so that they are accurate to nearest mm. Using the latest handheld computers, CAD (computer-aided design) software and laser distance meters, we are able to carry out a survey in your home whilst drawing out a detailed CAD plan there and then. It’s pretty impressive stuff.
Our team of architectural CAD designers then turn the initial survey in to full architectural drawings along with front, rear and side elevations. We will pass these initial draft drawings to you via our secure website for your approval or amendment. With your Kennet Design username and password, you can log in at any time and check the progress of your project as well as download your plans, 3D visuals and other project documentation for review or to print.
This is an optional service but one which helps you really visualise your ideas. Using the latest in 3D software, we are able to produce exciting and engaging fly-through animations of your home how it would look once your design is built.
Tell us about your ideas…
Single or Two-Storey Extension – Whether side, rear or sometimes both, it might be possible to build without Planning Permission by using your Permitted Development Rights.
Loft Conversion – Most lofts can be converted and this is an excellent way of providing you and your family with an extra bedroom or two with perhaps an en suite bathroom.
Interior Alteration – We could look at how best to reconfigure your existing home to make best use of natural light and the existing space and features.
Conservatory or Garden Room – Sun rooms and Orangeries are replacing the conservatory and are one of the most popular home improvements.
Garage Conversions – Planning permission isn’t usually required here providing the work is internal and does not involve enlarging the building.
Outbuilding or Annexe – Where the garden is large enough , an annexe or outbuilding can provide you with the extra living area you require or perhaps a workspace.
New Build– We can provide self-builders and developers with advice and support from concept to acquiring planning permission including pre-applications and feasibility reports.
